Hi Geeks! Today, we share a tutorial on, “how to turn an Ordinary Photo into Cinema-like Effect using Photoshop?” . Actually, this idea ignited while watching a movie, “why can’t we turn our own photographs into movie-like?”. And at once, I opened Photoshop, started trying with some picture I have. And now, Hope! I found a way to get close to a cinematic effect. Here, is the final result I got:
Things I used:
- Adobe Photoshop(its actually, Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended version).
- Any Ordinary Photo, that needs to be transformed.
Steps to turn an Ordinary Photo into Cinema-like Effect
Step 1: Open the Ordinary Photo(Source) in Photoshop, that is to be turned Cinematic.
Step 2: Reduce the Saturation level in Hue/Saturation option.
Step 3: Then, duplicate the source image by, right the image and choose “Duplicate Layer”.
Step 4: Then, choose the “Color balance” option in the Adjustments box. And, adjust the midtones color to the mood you need.
Step 5: Adjust the Offset value and Gamma Correction, to make the photo little darker and sharper.
Step 5: Now, in Filter menu, move to Blur option, select “Lens Blur”. Choose More Accurate, select source as Layer Mask and adjust the Focal Distance between 10-15 (that depends on the photo you use). Click “OK”.
Step 6: Go to Filter → Noise → Add Noise, to add noise and make it look like, some scrambled and pixelated. Watching cinema in your TV naturally.
Step 7: Atlast, combine the duplicated layer to the original photo by selecting the Overlay option in the Layer section. And, Tadaa! we turned our ordinary photo into a cinema-like (a cinematic effect).
Select the Rectangle shape in the Shape box, and drag Black bars on Top and Bottom. This will make it still more perfect and will now look like a screenshot took while movie picture is running on your TV.
