Creating OS Backup in SONY VAIO Laptops using VAIO Backup Utility

Hello readers 😀 Whenever you purchase a laptop you will be provided with a in built OS say windows 7 home premium. The first and the foremost thing you have to do is to create a backup in DVD’s. My friend just installed another OS(linux – ubuntu) along with windows 7.

Unknowingly he formatted the windows genuine OS. He lost his genuine OS and finally he is using a pirated one. I bought a sony laptop(SVE15117FN) recently and the first thing i did was backup. Let us see how to create a backup in sony vaio.

Requirements for OS backup:

  • four 4.7 GB high quality gold coated DVD(sony or moserbear) or
  • two 8 GB(high quality gold coated DVD(sony or moserbear)
  • Sony laptop

To begin the process click ‘ASSIST’ button at the top of the laptop keyboard and the Sony vaio care appears at the right side of the screen.

Now click Advanced tools where the actual backup step begins. Click Restore and Recovery option.

Now click ‘create recovery media’ option from Restore and recovery.

Once create recovery media is chosen a dialog box appears. Make sure that your charger is plugged in because it may take plenty of time for taking backup. Now in the dialog box choose optical disc. If you have 16 or 32 GB pendrive then you can go along with USB flash drive. But i chose optical disc.

Now insert the dvd(4GB or 8GB) and click next to begin the process. Make sure that the system should remain free for 2 to 3 hours. If you do any work parallely then the process will be slow.

This is very essential for a new laptop. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and found it to be very useful. If you find it hard, please do share the issue below in comment section.
